The Pitch Ups

Big Ideas. Big Competition.

Sponsored by our principal partner Xero

Some of the best young social entrepreneurs in the country will put themselves and their ideas on the line as they pitch for up to $10,000 in seed funding from our principal partner Xero. Watch five young changemakers pitch their idea in front of a panel of judges where only one will take home the cash.

Cheer on our next generation of social innovators from 10.30am at Deakin Edge, Fed Square.

HireUp
HireUp is an online platform revolutionising the way Australians with disability find, hire and manage their own support workers. For too long, people with disability have had to accept support work on someone else’s terms so they are taking a new approach and doing it by investing in technology and the community. HireUp has created an online peer-to-peer network to directly connect people with disability and support workers. A system that matches people with disability and support workers not just on qualification but on shared interests.

The Last Straw
The Last Straw is a campaign to end the use of plastic straws in Australia. Aiming to tackle the issue from both sides – encouraging consumers to use less plastic straws and encouraging businesses to give out less straws through staff training and managing the responsible disposal of any plastic straws that are used. The Last Straw believes that it makes no sense to continue to use plastic straws at the volume we do, and that big change can be made through small everyday actions driven by you.

IZRA
IZRA exists to connect young Australians with purpose and resilience. We believe that purpose and resilience can be the determinants in whether young people are defined by their challenges or if they are empowered by them. Through creative programs and an online platform, IZRA is equipping young people with entrepreneurial and practical employability skills taught to them by young leaders. IZRA wants to expand their reach and make their programs more accessible for regional West Australians, whilst also creating an interactive film series and workbooks to use within schools.
