Come along and join our hosts, Rosie Thomas and Caitlin Wood from Project Rockit, to cheer on the achievements of Australia’s young social changemakers who are doing amazing things. Featuring a live spoken word performance by Abe Nouk, some acoustic folk tunes by Zoë Fox and our very own house band, Hills Hoist, the Unleashed Awards will be a special night to recognise and celebrate some of Australia’s finest young people. Rosie Thomas & Caitlin Wood  – Project Rockit | Hosts

Rosie and Caitlin are a couple of social justice junkies who are pretty relentless about creating positive change for young people. The two hail from PROJECT ROCKIT: Australia’s youth-driven movement against bullying, hate and prejudice. They believe in a world where kindness and respect thrive and all young people are free to realise their potential.

Abe Nouk | Spoken Word Artist

Spoken-word poet, hip-hop fanatic, MC and an author whose craft developed from a realisation of the freedom of speech, Sudanese-born Abe was illiterate when he and his family arrived in Australia in 2004, as UN High Commission designated refugees. Since realising his illiteracy, he began reading and writing to improve his lyrical content for hip-hop music when it became apparent to him that ‘the best thing you can do for yourself is to feed your mind.

Abe went on to become third in the Australian National Poetry Slam and self-published HUMBLE, his first collection in 2013. He is the founder and director at Creative Rebellion Youth.

Zoë Fox | Musician

Blending honey tones and melancholic lullabies, Zoë Fox writes stories for young and old. As front woman of her new band “Zoë Fox and the Rocket Clocks” this witch is a cosy kind of spook. A magical exploration of ageless play. Zoë Fox embodies this style with a voice like velvet and a timeless feel.

Hills Hoist Press

Hills Hoist | Houseband

After many years of tinkering with their musical gizmos cousins Jack Kong (Vocals/Guitar) and Christy Wositzky-Jones (Vocals/Keyboards) finally emerged from the laboratory in 2015 with a debut performance at the annual Indonesian Street Food Festival. Wasting no time at all Hills Hoist released their debut EP ‘Westbourne Grove’ in November 2015 through local label Decibels Records.

Alongside Jack and Christy, bandmates James Leahy (Drums) Vinnie Clementson (Bass) and Robbie Belchamber (Guitar/Vocals) make up the remaining assembly. Hills Hoist hail to all that is weird and wonderful in Rock and Roll with music that twists, turns and sometimes spirals out of control.
