About Unleashed

This isn’t our first rodeo. Here’s some more deets about the festival.

The Festival for Young Changemakers

Unleashed is Australia’s largest social change festival for young people.

Hosted by FYA, Unleashed provides skills and connections to equip young innovators, makers, thinkers and doers with the ability to change the world. Over 1000 young people from every corner of the country come together each year to talk big issues, find out about big innovations and develop skills to make a big impact.
The first ever Unleashed Festival was held in 2013 at Sydney’s Pier One and Sydney Opera House and now calls Melbourne’s Fed Square home. Unleashed features live music, film, inspirational speakers, a changemakers marketplace and the annual Unleashed Awards.

Unleashed is a drug and alcohol-free event.

Unleashed Awards

As part of the Unleashed festival, FYA holds the annual Unleashed Awards, where we celebrate the diversity and achievements of Australia’s young dreamers, doers, thinkers and creators.

The Foundation for Young Australians

FYA is Australia’s only national for-purpose organisation dedicated to backing the next generation of young people who are going to rethink the world and create a better future.

FYA works with young people from all over Australia aged 12-29 years, building Australia’s largest community of young changemakers.

FYA believes young people are not a problem to be helped or solved. They are ambitious, creative and capable of rethinking the world and solving tomorrow’s problems today. And they can do it with a social conscience that will let them build a better world in the process.

Each year FYA hosts the Unleashed festival, its annual flagship event, bringing together its online community, program participants in one place full of young changemakers.

FYA and Fed Square acknowledge that we are gathered on the lands of the Kulin nations, we respect their traditions and embrace their traditional and contemporary expression.
